Systems Reflective Post

My journey is systems has been very rewarding. I have been challenged to think about technology and the underlining elements that it takes to create technology in a way I have never thought about before. I would have not considered myself a tech-savy teacher but through this course I feel like I have an immensely deeper understanding of technology and even have a few ideas of how to bring this understanding into my classroom.

I learned how to create a Microsoft list which I could see as being an extremely useful tool in my AP Seminar class for both my students and myself. From keeping track of who has checked out a library book or a book from my personal library to tracking student progress on a longer project, this list can be viewed by all parties. Students can see where they are in the process in comparison to their peers and when deadlines are approaching. I can quickly update the status of students so I can keep track of all their information in one spot.

I would love to learn how to implement the app I created into my classroom instruction. I would likely need to take another course to perfect my app and attempt to make it usable to both teachers and students. I struggled with differentiating the screens for educators versus students in the designing of my app and would like to know more about how that process looks when there are two different types of users logging in. I could also use YouTube to provide me with more insight on the app creation process but ultimately, I think another course would be needed.

Before creating an app, I would definitely create a flow chart. The flow chart really helped me understand where decisions would be made in the app and possible points of the process ending. While creating an app, it is also extremely important to play the app throughout the creation process to make sure the buttons work and the app transitions from one screen to the next like you would want it to. I could have students complete their own flow charts in the future when thinking about designing an app or tracking a process. I think this would really help students gain valuable insight on how these processes work.
